Get ready, Hawaii

Next week, I go to Hawaii for a 3-day basketball camp for kids to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii. It is so cool that my former coach, Lute Olson, will be going over there with us along with Al Jefferson of the Timberwolves.

We're looking forward to a great time and I'm really excited that those kids are going to benefit from such great coaching.

Check out this highlight video from Coach's retirement and if you want more info on the camp, go to cfryeandfriends.com

503 and nearby people – You gotta check this out

DirdyBirdyYo everybody, I'm coming out tomorrow night to the Dirdy Birdy. It's a very cool event for a great cause and I want to show my support as this is just the beginning of a great partnership between the Channing Frye Foundation and Oregon Active Foundation.

I hope you come out too. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Be sure to wear your best clothes. Just kidding. Unfortunately, I can't run in it because I'm allergic to mud, but I'll be out there having a good time and flinging water balloons.

Petunia’s

The first time Grant and I came to Portland, I wanted to show him something new so I took him to the vegan place, Prasad, that used to be Blossoming Lotus in the Pearl. He and I loved it. The food is still good and great for you except Grant had a spicy apple muffin that was killer but they ran out.

PastriesNow that we’re back again, Lisa from Petunia’s Pies and Pastries made me and Grant a whole assortment of gluten free and vegan pastries and pies that are to die for and good for you.

I was just writing this blog to thank Lisa and to everyone who made these — it’s much appreciated and you people should try it out.

My blog

This blog was brought to my attention:

Check it out here.

I appreciate the love and understand throughout these playoffs people may not like me anymore but I can't make everyone happy. I play for the Suns. The Suns gave me the chance I've always asked for and I'm going to do whatever it takes to win and to help my team to get better everyday.

But on the side, this blog is a great outlet that can show the me outside of basketball. Thanks to everyone for reading and to those who have stayed supportive.

Noble Rot Rooftop Resturant

noblerotIn my short 4-day stay in Portland, I had a great time visiting with friends and family. I felt like it was definitely a business trip and I just had to try out one new place. I was pleasantly surprised. The wife and I always drive by this place and never knew it was a restaurant. The owners -- a lovely couple -- changed the name from "Rocket."

The new high-rise restaurant first of all stops you with the great views, secondly the crowd is a great mixed crowd: older hipster, parents with babies, newly 30s, yet still cool and in the know, and flat-out retirees packed this place. Even though it was busy, I didn't feel cramped. I love the whole ambiance -- the concrete mixed with the open kitchen and modern furniture allowed me to just focus on the food and the view. The added bonus to this place is the fact that they grow they're own herbs on the roof in a beautiful garden. Talk about keeping it local. I mean, you can't get any fresher than that.

I had the sole, my friends had burgers and the short rib pasta. There wasn't a spec of food left on any plate. People were stuffed. That's one thing that i truly appreciate about a good restaurant is if everyone eats the food until they're stuffed, but in a good way like, it's so good you don't want to disgrace it by putting it in a microwave a day or two later.

Overall, I dug this place. When I get back I'd definitely want to try the burger which was cooked to perfection and maybe try their wine selection out thoroughly and see what else I can like from Noble Rot.
People, I recommend this place. It's solid. Also very accommodating to large parties and during the summer time it's always going to be a great spot.

A poll about my baby

My wife and I are expecting our first child. Super excited. We've decided we want to be surprised about whether it's a boy or girl, but let us know your guess. We'll be sure to let you know when it's born what it turns out to be.

Do you think my firstborn will be a boy or girl?
