About the 3-ball
Hey, to the readers still there waiting for me to blog, I have to say thank you so much for being patient with me. The transition to this new team new club has been -- for lack of a better word -- an adventure.
I love every minute that I'm with this team. From the minute I signed here I had a great feeling that this was were I was supposed to be and I've definitely matured as a player and as a man. The game is just fun again and having the opportunity to play I cherish every second I'm out there.
But anyway, I have so many topics to talk about I just wanted to just give my thanks to everyone who reads this. You're appreciated. I'm gonna talk about the most asked question I get after every game: where did the 3 ball come from?
My first answer is behind the 3pt line, lol. The second answer is that I've worked hard on that for about 2-1/2 years. I started developing it when I came to Portland, never really used it, was more down low and it just wasn't in the offense.
When the last season was over I took 2 weeks off and got right back in the gym and started working on my game. I would spend 2 hrs in the wee hours of the morn and come back and strictly work on the 3 ball later in the day. All that hard work payed off so far and in this system it's my job to shoot. It's everyone's job to shoot, be a threat, be a scorer at all times and that’s why we've been successful so far. We play with 5 unselfish scorers.
So, to answer that question, my 3 ball came from lots of hours of hard work, the right situation, and from my teammates and their confidence in me.

Cuz,
Don’t get to see you as much as I ‘d like to because we just don’t get the games in the Western Conference here in the East. That’ll change after the 1st of the year when the Sunday double headers are televised.
Anyway, your 3 ball is lookin’ good from what I’ve been able to catch. It’ll improve as the season progresses too so keep up the good (hard) work. Make sure you don’t neglect the rest of your game which is also coming together for you.
Happy Turkey Day ! ! !

I was born and raised in Tucson and will always consider you one of the legendary Cats of the Lute Olson era. Just for the record I always thought you had a nice stroke and I’m glad to see that your hard work is paying off with you returning to the desert. Can’t wait to get up to Phx to see you in person.

Hey Channing!
It’s great to see you doing so well in Phoenix. I was sad to see you leave Portland, but at the same time I’m really happy to see you get the opportunities that you really deserve.

Channing, just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed having you in Portland. I am sad that you had to leave, but I am really happy for you and your success in Phoenix. We look forward to seeing you back in P-town!
November 25th, 2009 - 15:30
What number is bigger: The number of 3s you’ll make this year or the number of wings you can eat in one sitting?
November 25th, 2009 - 15:50
Love that you’re getting some good playing time! You were my 6 year-old son’s fave Blazer and he is still bummed you’re gone! He points out every “44″ he sees and says “44! Go Channing Frye!” He doesn’t know yet, but we’re taking him to the Blazer vs Suns game the 17th! Hope you get lots of playing time, but not so many 3’s!
November 25th, 2009 - 16:41
Congratulations on a great opening to your season. We miss you in Portland and we wish you the best in Phoenix – except when you play against us! I knew that 3-ball would blow up for you this year. – Elgin

It’s good to see you’ve learned that the long 2’s you were taking in Portland are the least efficient shot in basketball. I’m happy to see you’re succeeding, you deserve it!
November 25th, 2009 - 17:26
Everyone else has said it but we miss your happy, intelligent self here in (Keep it Weird) Portland. But I am so glad to see your success with the Suns. You deserve it brother. What’s Steve Nash really like. I always thought he would be someone I would like.

It’s great to see you back home and getting the run that you deserve. I’m a native Tucsonan and attended every game that you played at McKale during your time as a Wildcat. Being a Blazer fan from days spent living in Oregon, I was sad to see you leave Portland, but ecstatic that you’re in a position to be a force once again.
You have always been a classy person and I have always admired your ability to stay light through turmoil and adversity. Keep the J tight and don’t piss off the Santa Clara dude and you’re a shoe-in for comeback POY, or most improved?… maybe biggest production upswing award? Something like that.
oh and… Go Cats!

Jordan Jaguars FOREVER.. Way to represent… GO SUNS…
November 30th, 2009 - 14:46
Hey Channing…
Yet another Portland fan who is incredibly happy for your success down in Ol’ Mexico…what? Phoenix? Same difference… Seriously, your departure from the Blazers was cast long before it happened (tough match) but you’re filling it up down there with Nash (how’s THAT feel?) and an integral part of a killing machine. Hell, I was lucky enough to snap you up for one of my fantasy basketball teams. You (and Joe Johnson) are holding my 3pt score above water. No mean feat in Portland. Good luck, bra… see you at Pok Pok!

Channing,
I was really bummed to see you leave Portland, we miss you a lot up here. You did a lot for the community and the Blazer org on and off the court. I also greatly appreciate everything you have done in the fight against MS, those of us who have it or know someone who does really appreciate your efforts.
So bummed as I was to see you go, I was equally glad to see you land in Phoenix. I’m grew up an AZ boy and was always a huge Suns fan. So if you aren’t playing in town for the Blazers, playing down south in Phoenix is pretty cool in my book. Plus you are having such a great season so far, congratulations!
Take care and good luck.

Channing –
Interested in a starting PF position in Portland?
I have faith that any effort you put forth whatsoever would surpass that which we’re getting from L.A. right now…
Hope you’re doing well in Phoenix, we miss you. (<That was serious)
December 18th, 2009 - 09:05
Whoa speaking of the three point ball, you were all over it last night in Portland! We miss Mr. Portland!! Glad to see you’re working it out in AZ, I’m rooting for you!

We miss you in the northwest, Channing!

I have to echo many of the previous comments and say that you are sorely missed in Portland. And like everyone else I am very excited for, and proud of, you for all your success on Phoenix. I hope they know what they’ve got with you. You’re the best.
