  1. You should come to Houston.

Your skill set would fit in great under Coach Adelman.

    Good Luck to you.

  2. Having attended the U of A while you were there, it’s been that much more fun getting to cheer for you all over again at the Rose Garden. I’m sorry to hear that you’re leaving, but wish you the best of luck with wherever you land.

Thanks for the extraordinary involvement you’ve had with the community. You set the bar when it comes to being able to connect with your fans. I’m not alone in regularly visiting your site for interesting stories, funny videos, and information about the number of worthy causes you support.

The brunch at the Tin Shed is pretty good, but without the chance of running into you and your bulldog, it’s going to be a little bit harder to justify the hour plus wait.

  3. Thank you… Man this is a huge bummer… Me and my friend at every play you made or scored would yell out Would you like Frye’s with that.. some great times.. Dude I’m gonna miss you. I hope your journey in the NBA takes you to higher places.. Hope to see you back in Portland!

  4. So sad to see you go

  5. Our family is sad to see you go. My son (9 years old) loves watching you play! He was hoping you would be at the Blazers Hoop camp in July. When he is playing around he says “Would you like “Fryes” with that?”

I saw you having dinner at Lincoln one night — you seem to be one of the few Blazers who really embraced this city! Cool car BTW. Best wishes to you! Aloha.

  6. So sad to see you go. Will continue to follow your blog and wish you the greatest success with your new team and the CF Foundation. You are a good egg and I hope you continue to come home to Portland – you are loved here.

  7. Channing, I’ve been looking over your blog, and it seems like you’re a cool guy. I hope to see you in a Cavs uniform next year. I’m from Cleveland, but I went to school in Arizona, so I know a little bit about both places. Just wanted to tell you that I think you would like Cleveland. Yeah, it’s cold, and the winters are hell, but there’s something similar about the people in both places. Cleveland is a great town, because you can drive right downtown and find a parking space near where you want to be, which is underrated. I think you would have a chance to contribute right away, the Cavs need a tall big to split time with Varejao, who has absolutely zero (or very near zero) offense. You can email me if you want to know anything else about the Cleve. Travis

  8. we’ll be happy to see you in SA!! GO SPURS!!

  9. Just saw you’re going to Phoenix. Congrats man. Don’t burn us too bad this coming year :)

  10. Congratulations on signing with Phoenix Channing, I hope nothing for the best for you. Can’t wait to cheer for you when you come back to the Rose Garden.

  11. Excited to see you coming home to AZ! Hope you stay around for a while.

  12. Congrats on Phoenix. Hopefully you have a monster year, opt out and sign with the Blazers again next summer. Gotta let us hope.

  13. Channing I’ll be rooting for you in Phoenix!! I’m sad to see you leave us as you are a wonderful asset of the greater Portland community. Stay Weird!!

  14. Congrats on the new contract with Phoenix! My wife and I are both season ticket holders and we wanted to thank you for everything that you have done for Portland. You are a true PROFESSIONAL athlete in a time when very few are.

Thanks for everything and we hope that you enjoyed your time with Portland.

  15. Good luck in Phoenix, Channing. I’ll bet you’re happy to be heading home. We’re all really sorry that coach couldn’t get you more PT, but that’s how it goes I guess. We’ll always root for you, and you will always have a home in Portland. Peace.

  16. Good luck in Phoenix…

  17. Phoenix bound, eh? Congrats and kick some (non Blazer) ass!

  18. Man…You’re the best!

Portland will miss seeing you play and catching you around town! Thanks for everything you have done for this community! Enjoy the sunshine, but you gotta come back for some camping trips.

  19. Sad to see you go Man!!!! Good luck back in Arizona! The fans of Portland will terribly miss you.

  20. portland loves you Channing! I am so sad to see you leave, but best of luck in Phoenix!

  21. Thanks!!! Good Luck!!! you’ll always be a Blazer!

  22. Channing I’m going to miss your funny recycling commercials when watching games! They still make me smile whenever I see them (like when you brush your teeth). I will definitely cheer for you when you come to the Rose Garden.

    Love,
    Natalie

  23. Good luck in Phoenix, Channing! We’ll miss you, you’re a class act.

  24. As a Blazer fan and fellow UA alum, I wish you good luck. Wish we would have had the good sense to keep you here.

  25. Good luck, Channing. Make Phoenix weird!

  26. We’ll miss you around town Channing. I’m glad you’re going to play for your hometown team. Don’t forget to come back, Portland tends to love it’s classy players forever. Just look at Brian Grant.

  27. I went to my first Blazer game in 1971 (I was three, so my mom got me in for free). You are my favorite person ever to play for the Blazers. Whatever happens on the court for you, I hope that you are happy and fulfilled. Thanks for being such a great part of the community

  28. Thanks man! Hopefully we’ll see you in Portland during the off season?

  29. Cheers! I know for a fact that you will always get a warm welcome both on and off the court in Portland.

  30. You deserve the best! You will make a great addition to the Suns!

  31. Back in the AZ! Enjoy life back at home. Live it up, but do not forget the fans you left here in PDX. You made a mark here and it is obvious that you have a career in broadcasting. Whether it be radio or tv, you can have a very long life in the game.

  32. C,
I have not read the comments already left here. I wanted to make sure that what I said was not influenced by something somebody else said. I can honestly say that I expect you to occupy that rarefied air that is reserved for the favorite Blazers. Names like Kersey, Duckworth, Grant, to name a few. Even though you will wear another uniform, you will be fondly remembered and missed.

  33. I really enjoyed your class, upbeat attitude and the joy you brought to Portland, as a native it means more to me than any Blazer win or championship. Best of luck and hope you enjoy being back in Arizona.

  34. Hey Channing,
You’re a classy guy and my 6 year old boy’s fave Blazer. He pronounces your name “Channing Fwye”. Good luck with your career.

  35. Channing,
You were my favorite Blazer ever for your game and who you are, and I’ve loved the team since I could walk. I’ll cheer for you as loud as I cheer Portland when you come back to town, and I’ve never been able to say that about anyone before. I wish you the best, and we wish you were here, we really do.

  36. Channing you were a class act on and off the court. We will miss your smile and goofy commercials. Congratulations on getting married. I will miss seeing you downtown and hanging out just like the rest of us. Good luck in Phoenix!

  37. You’re welcome. We love you. Our arms are open to you when you and your beautiful bride return to us for a visit. Can’t wait. ~ E

  38. Gonna’ miss you Channing. Good luck in Phoenix, just not against the Blazers.

  39. We’re going to miss you in Portland! Good luck with in Phoenix! Continue to stay positive and wishing you only the best of success for your future.

PS. Our bullldogs love you too! :-)

  40. Hey Channing,

It was great to see you again in Portland for the pre-season game against the Suns 10/14. I imagine it was a bit weird to be back, playing on he other side from your old teammates. I cheered for you all night, even though you guys made us look silly on D! :)

Enjoyed your blog, especially a post last year after your visit to Lakewood church in Houston. Appreciated your honest reflection, and willingness to share. Finding a genuine relationship with Jesus has been the best thing in my own life, and I enjoy hearing about others’ spiritual journeys – especially from a guy in your shoes, who, as a public figure, is likely to get all kind of unlooked-for feedback (good and bad) when speaking about such things. Thought you might like to know your blog made the list of key off-season Blazer losses, according to Ben over at Blazer’s Edge! Check it out here: http://www.blazersedge.com/2009/10/19/1090832/blog-season-preview

Wish you all the best with the Suns, and a great career. When I go back and watch tape of the knee injury in New York, it makes me cringe.

  41. Glad to see you killing it bud. Keep up the hard work and stroke that J with confidence. You got it man. A little more weight and banging in the post and you can be a Rasheed Wallace type player….minus that attitude. I’m a die hard blazer fan, but i will make sure to follow you. Hope to see in P Town kicking back some time.

  42. Glad to see you killing it in Phx. We miss you up here in stump town

  43. Thank you, man. I’m sorry it didn’t work out long-term with the Blazers. They may well be regretting it now! In any case, looks like you’ve got a great thing going in Phoenix so far, and if the Blazers can’t win it this year, you, Nash and the boys in Arizona have my full support. Rip City got mad love for you.

  44. i wish they would have given you more time to play rather than sitting on the bench bro. just know that you will always have a soft spot here in portland. hopefully playing on phx will get you the time you need to develop into a superstar. good luck

  45. I’m so happy to see you doing well in Phoenix!

You were always one of our favorites and I loved getting to cheer my heart out for you at the preseason game at the Coliseum. My bobble head still sites on my desk at work – although, have you noticed it kinda looks more like Barack Obama than you? :)

Keep up the good work Channing!

  46. You’re the best. So is your blog. We’ll miss you.

  47. Channing I love you. Thanks for the great times in Portland! Keep kicking trash down there in phoenix. You’re doing great!

  48. Channing, we’re so happy to see you thriving with the Suns! We really miss you here in Portland. (Don’t really understand why things evolved the way they did for you last season but, oh well. That’s part of the human drama of professional sports, I guess. Personalities, conflicting agendas, vicissitudes.)

Last week, when I asked my sweetie if he wanted a jersey for Christmas, he said… maybe. (Because he feels shy about wearing a jersey, I guess. Too dorky.) But! Here’s what he said next: “If you buy me a jersey, get me a Suns jersey… with Frye on the back.”

  49. Looking for a place to say thanks and I think I found it in this thread. Being a Blazers fan living in Portland I can’t root for the Suns outright, you know, unless you’re playing the Lakers, Rockets or the like. However I will be keeping an eye on your box scores and rooting for you. I wish you were able to play a better role in Portland cause you seem to be such a great person. So yes, like many of us Portlanders, super sad it didn’t work out for you here. Good luck either way! Hope you keep Portland your home in the offseason and into the future!

  50. I am a Blazers fan for life, born and raised. I loved what you were able to offer us and was sorry to see you go. Not only are you a great basketball player, but you are a great person. I am so happy that you’ve found a home and a starting position in Phoenix and am ecstatic in regards to the success that you’ve found there. I met you briefly at the season ticket holders party last year when I introduced myself to you as the person who took on your pizza challenge. It was a great pleasure meeting you and I wish you the best of luck, unless of course you’re playing Portland. Take care Channing!
