“Would you rather?” – A variation
Here's my question for "Would You Rather?" Wednesday. As a reminder, Kobe is dealing with zones and MJ dealt with a more physical basketball game. That being said...

MJ because his legend just grows as his time fades further into the past.

Yeah, but Kobe scored 82 points in one game! Holy moly! We all love MJ and Kobe is pretty easy to hate, but there is no denying it… He is AMAZING.

Once Kobe can retire once and come back and win another championship and once he gets 6 rings then I will consider him equal to jordan. I think Jordan made his teammates better, and up until the last 2 years I don’t think Kobe did that. As much as I hate Kobe and the lakers, he’s definitely matured. So only time will tell

Jordan clearly just for the simple fact that Kobe shoots so many jumpers, regardless if they are falling or not. And Jordan would strike the fear of death into the players playing with him, that failure was not an option. Jordan averaged 20 pts at 40 years old, what more needs to be said.

WITHOUT SHAQ,,…. KOBE IS NOTHING!!!!! I don’t see him winning a f-ing ring with out SHAQ!!!!!!! MJ has made HISTORY,… Kobe is just trying to live up to the dream!!!… Good luck Kobe,.. you will NEVER be MJ!!!!

Kobe, tell me how my ASS tastes! Kobe can’t do without me.

It’s hard to compare players from different eras, that being said, I don’t think Jordan was as much of a ball hog. He shared the ball yet still had tremendous scoring. Jordan, so far, is clearly the best scorer ever to play in the NBA.

I was never a huge Jordan fan. I mean, when you’re 10 and you want his shoes, you want to be cool. That’s what Jordan was; cool. He has more bling and awards than Kobe ever will but that doesn’t define a player. I think the league is tougher now than it was when Jordan came in. However, MJ brought the NBA to a whole other level.
December 4th, 2008 - 11:56
By far MJ. He has a legacy of, like J Mo said, of stepping up the game to the next level. He was a boss!
December 4th, 2008 - 21:54
Why is this even begin debated. LeBron is the only player alive right now who will ever be able to approach MJ, and he has a long way to go.

This isn’t a fair question. the majority of your blog readers are blazer fans who hate the lakers and hate kobe even more!
December 5th, 2008 - 08:06
Will Blazer fans still hate Kobe if he becomes a TrailBlazer next year? I doubt it. In fact, if that was to happen I would bet that the Rose Garden would sell out 95% of home games, before the season even started.
I don’t like Kobe but if we’re comparing primes, Jordan takes it.

Wow, that’s like asking who is the better Frye, Channing or Charlie? Actually, I prefer Frye’s Electronics over both. They have a Starbucks and nice selection of discount DVD’s. Sorry Channing.

Just wanted to stop by and offer words of encouragement. Tough game last night. I worry about you guys (PTBs) like my mom worries about me! I just hope you aren’t too hard on yourself after last nights game. In the words of Stuart Smalley “You’re good enough. You’re smart enough. And doggonit, people like you!” Take care brother. I’m rooting for you.

we’ve easily sold out 95% this year and last before the season started. This is without Kobe. We would have to give up nearly everyone on our squad just to get kobe’s salary to match.
Anyone would want a kobe on there team whether they admit it or not, but not at the sake of your whole team.
I don’t think Jordan was the best scorer of all time, probably the best all around player ever though.
The league now, probably has more talented/athletic players than in jordan’s day, but back then there were a lot less rules, therefore much harder to play I think.
December 6th, 2008 - 11:26
Here’s the thing. Teams use to murder Jordan. The Pistons and the Knicks use to knock him down on every drive. After Oakley left the Bulls, Jordan had no “Enforcer” type. So every time he drove to the hoop, he knew he could get clocked AND no one would defend him.
With all the rule changes since Jordan’s time, Kobe has a physically easier time scoring. He knows that Rodman or Ewing aren’t going to commit assault on him when he drives to the hoop. He may get fouled; very true. But if Kobe knew he was going to get his clock cleaned, do you think he’s driving? I doubt it.
Thus Jordan is better.

Channing, who did you choose?
December 10th, 2008 - 14:48
I’m still waiting for the “Would you rather?” Poll featuring either Jessica Alba or Megan Fox. If you pose that question, can you add a “both” option?
