Some of my favs
Hey guys, check out the other parts of my website. I've been wandering around Portland for almost a year so I know some places. Check out my favs to see if you've been there. I'm constantly updating it, so if you have any bar, restaurant, or whatever that you think is the hot-spot, let me know.

Channing,
check out Lauro on SE Division & 34th:
http://www.laurokitchen.com/
cool, clean atmosphere. mature, polished waitstaff. outstanding food that will not kill your budget. (i especially appreciate that they have fine pizza and burger options when you don’t feel high-class but want some high-class taste.)
enjoy,

Channing, thanks for the tip on Lucier. I’m going to take my wife there. I better get some play afterwards.

Thanks for the suggestions, Channing! I plan on checking out some of these bad boys next time that I’m in town. Go Blazers!

Hey Channing, I feel that I read somewhere that your a fan of southern food, sweet tea, biscuits and the like. If so, or even if i’m mistaken, you and some of the fellas should come check out our humble little biscuit kitchen on the east side at 36th & Belmont. We’re called Pine State Biscuits, and we serve Fresh daily from scratch Southern Buttermilk Biscuit sandwiches, Biscuits and Gravy, Southern Sides(ie. grits, greens, hashbrowns), good coffee and true southern style sWEEET Tea. We are counter service with some dine-in tables, but cater to the person on the go for the most part. Tell Nate there is finally some NC Wolfpack boys doing things right out here in the Northwest. Hours 7-2pm Tues-Sun. Would love to see some blazers in there soon!

There’s a really good sushi place that I always go to on 23rd. The food is delicious and the place itself looks nice so you should check it out.

You need to visit the Delta Cafe on Woodstock in SE Portland. I miss that place. It is very Portlandly.

Channing- great list of places. as you know, Portland has some amazing food and there is no way to hit them all – that said, I have a few favs that just scream Portland: Higgins (downtown) – amazingly fresh, local and tasty. Fife (NE Fremont) – owned by a friend and one of the few that is trying to be as sustainable as possible, by working with local farmers, limiting the impact on the environment and making amazing food. And of course for the best sushi in town – Hiroshi in the Pearl. Thanks for the great blog!

Don’t know if you like teriyaki… but try my favorite place! 5365 NE Sandy Blvd. Thanks for blogging and actually taking time to connect with the fans. I’ve been a fan for over 20 years and (as most hardcore fans would probably tell you) this is the most excited I’ve been in awhile. GO BLAZERS!!!!

^^^^^
oops… forgot to include the name for the above address. Ha ha. it’s called DU’S GRILL!
November 14th, 2008 - 15:13
Have you tried Oba?
Seriously good food. The apple flan (which is apparently seasonal in that it is every season that i’m NOT in town), is a literal orgasm to the taste buds.
The other dishes are quite good too and need some time to just savor the flavor. I’m sure you have been there, but if not, check it out.

If you like good BBQ and dont mind the place being a little old school hospitality, ya gotta go to Reo’s Ribs out on TV Highway. If you cant make it out there, they can come and cater to you. Check it out at

Channing,
Listen to whoever recommended the Delta, smart man. Also check out Screen Door, 24th and E. Burnside, southern food, and best breakfast I’ve had in a long time, huge portions.

Pambiche – cuban place in Laurel Hurst on Gilsan. Fantastic.
November 20th, 2008 - 00:01
Man you have to try Benihana in beaverton. Also Le Hana in portland by the water front and in hillsboro. Also rebrick asian fusion it is real good it’s on cornel rd and 188.

I second the vote for Du’s Grill. Best teriyaki in town. It’s a tiny place, right on Sandy Blvd. I used to live in that neighborhood, and the lines would stretch out the door. The lady that runs the place makes her own creamy poppy seed salad dressing that’s fantastic too.

VQ – can’t argue with a place that has Mac&Jack’s African Amber on tap.
Went to that Lucier place with my girl and her parents and it was pure WOW.
Marrying up = really nice meals out FTW.

Lovely Hula Hands. ’nuff said.

Best places to eat…well, you certainly ended up in the right city for food.
Here’s a few on the Eastside that I keep coming back to.
Delta Cafe
http://www.deltacafebar.com/
Definitely worth checking out this hip, Southern style restaurant. Lots of flavor here – and attitude. This restaurant told Benico Del Toro’s advance team to take a hike when they tried to make reservations for him. Suffice it to say, they don’t make reservations…but you won’t care because it’s such tasty, inexpensive grub.
Chinese Delicacy
6411 SE 82nd Ave – (503) 775-2598

If you love Chinese food, you will be in heaven at this restaurant. Out on SE 82nd, this is one of my favorite places to eat on the eastside. I get take-out here all the time. The food is fantastic and authentically flavorful with a reasonable bill. Lots of great family-style tables as well. Exposed some filmmaker friends of mine to this place recently and they loved it!
Binh Mihn
7821 SE Powell Blvd, Portland – (503) 777-2245

French Vietnamese sandwiches anyone? I’d walk a mile for the Combo #1 at this tiny SE restaurant. Cheap, plentiful and the best fast food alternative in town. Think crusty baguette with meat and tasty Vietnamese style veggies. Very satisfying and tasty. If you like spice, let them know – they’ve got some serious sliced peppers.
Here’s a tip…check out this local food blog:

Much to agree with here…
I’ll send more recommendations later…gotta hit the hay now.
