For the dogs…
With so many road games early in the season, I decided to watch a lot of DVDs while on Mr. Allen’s plane. In between watching game films, I got a chance to watch a video from the dog guru himself, Cesar Milan.
Now, mind you, I've heard people don't like him for some reason, but I love the guy. I pay no attention to the disclaimer "don't try this at home" because I shooshed the hell out of my dogs at home. Personally, I think shooshing is way better than spanking or any of that kind of stuff for an animal.
You know, this video wasn't too bad. I thought it was very interesting and eye-opening. With me having pets in such a dog-oriented city like Portland, it would be a disservice for me to not have them as trained as possible.
One of my dogs is actually not very nice to other dogs (to put it in nice terms) so I’ve been looking around watching videos to see if there is something I could do to make her better not only in the house but around other dogs. I still haven’t found the cure, but I have learned a lot about making sure that I am the "pack leader" of the house.
So, all seriousness aside, I have an extra video so whoever can send me the funniest dog photo or video, I’ll send it to you as a prize. But you have to send them (either post a link or email them to info@channingfrye.com) before next Friday (Nov. 14). And you can’t use this photo; it’s my dog:
You know when I come across good DVDs, I want to let the people know. So give me your opinion. I’m a fan. I watch the Dog Whisperer a lot. And if you have any tips, let me know, I’m always open for suggestions.

Yes! I love that show. I think more people need to pay attention to his work to make everyone happy. My neighbor’s dogs bark all day long and they do not care. Ridiculous. Unfortunately for me, my girlfriend is allergic to dogs so we have a cat. Is there such a thing as a cat whisperer? My cat is a psycho.

I really respect what Cesar Milan does. And I think many people who don’t like what he does don’t understand it or don’t realize and appreciate how many dogs he saves. It’s important to take everything with a grain of salt and not take everything he says as gospel. Of course there are other ways of doings things, but don’t discount someone who does something great for people and more importantly saves lives of dogs. He has helped a lot of dogs escape euthanasia when their owners didn’t know what else to do. Anyways, sorry about my rambling, I love the Dog Whisperer!

Hi Channing,
I assume that your female bull dog is spayed but if not, well start with that. Females can be intense and territorial. My french bull dogs doesn’t like other dogs (except the 2 that he lives with) but you might check with the breeder and see if your little darling is similar to its parents. Vets can help with a dog which is overly aggressive, too. Perhaps, she got Nate’s memo on wanting the team to be more aggressive. LOL. As long as you keep her away from small kids she should be ok. Good luck! PS You could write Cesar, I’ll bet he would love to do a show in Portland.

I love Cesar’s “calm assertive” message. People often mistake his talk of dominance for machismo, but that’s really not it at all. It’s more about doing your job as a pet owner to exercise them, discipline them, and give them some love. Your dog is super cute, don’t listen to the haters.
No dog here to entertain you with, but I wanted to voice my appreciation for you and your pups.

Anybody can send a funny photo of video of their dog doing crazy stuff or wearing a crazy costume. It’s much harder to spontaneously capture an unknown dog in an unknown location doing some inexplicably crazy stuff. We saw this while driving down the road in SF. No idea what was going on but it was funny as hell.

Glad you are a dog lover and a responsible owner.
Actually Cesar recently came up to PDX to film and he worked with my friend’s naughty dog named ” Calder”.
Look for him on the Portland show which should be airing soon.
