Batman
I have two words: Classic.
Me and a group of about nine of my friends went and saw Batman last night at 12:01. We were waiting for an hour with a bunch of eclectic fans - from those that felt they needed to dress up like Batman, Catwoman, the Joker, etc. to regular fans like me.
Funny story: halfway through all of us waiting, people started to get restless and one Batman started running up and down the aisles going "I am Batman. I am Batman." Then the people right behind us - the Joker and Two-Face - ran after him and started fake beating him up on stage. True story.
But once the movie started not a word was spoken until the cheers for great action scenes, and to be bluntly honest, rest in peace, but Heath Ledger was one of the top three villains of all time.
Seriously, if you have to go beg on the side of the street for an extra $10 bucks to go see this movie, do it. Don’t waste time seeing Wall-E, cuz it sucks and was boring. If you don’t like it, I’ll slap you with a spoon.

You didn’t like Wall-E, Channing, you hurt me deep down inside.
I mean…post-apocalyptic robots!
July 18th, 2008 - 09:27
“Classic” is only one word.
Then again, I haven’t yet seen the new Batman movie, so you might be making a reference I don’t understand.
July 18th, 2008 - 11:35
I havent seen batman, but WALL-e is the best movie of the summer period.

YOUR POST BASKETBALL CAREER:
1st there was Siskel & Ebert, then Ebert & Roeper, NOW Roeper & Frye!! You should totally be a MOVIE CRITIC!!!
Don’t take me the wrong way, you are an AWESOME b-ball player we love you as a Portland TrailBlazer, but as you know, pro-ball player careers are SHORT!
So I will be looking forward to seeing Roeper & Frye in the next 10 to 15 years!!!
July 18th, 2008 - 13:06
Nah prob gonna be Davis & Frye
July 18th, 2008 - 14:09
Hey, Well I too stayed up wayyy past my bedtime to see this 12:01 showing. It was great! Totally worth this wasted work day b/c im so tired Im barely able to function. However, you nice lil’ comment about Wal-E has hurt me deeply as he is my 4 year old son’s fav. character.
Good look on the quick update though!

Outside of the usual entertainment media, the consensus from the general public is that this movie is a plotless, terribly acted rip-off waste of money and 3 hours of your viewing life, so that tells me I should keep hold of my cash and wait for something else better to come along. No contest.

C-Frye! What a guy….your right on target! Loved It! And love your blogg!! How can we get your JERSEY! #44 PORTLAND….Does anybody else wanting a FRYE JERSEY???? I’m stating a list of names…post below! Forget the review….we want a Jersey!! Thank Goodness for your Blog…

Man, you were so right on with that, Avenger. This movie was such an annoying waste of time. They need to reassess how they make Batman movies and they can start with getting a better and acceptable actor to play the lead role and the lead villains. I’d really like to get my money back and I’m wondering if I can do that!?!
July 18th, 2008 - 23:04
Channing,
You are totally right, The Dark Knight was amazing. Best movie of this year and probably one of the best movies I have seen. I’m looking forward to seeing it again.
July 18th, 2008 - 23:17
Fryelock, I’m with you, that movie was amazing. The people that didn’t like it-wtf? It had a plot and action, Heath was the most sadistic villain ever, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. And, Christian Bale is a perfect Bruce Wayne and Batman. I want to see it again this weekend. What a great movie! You know that feeling like when the prom was over, or summer camp is done, when you had such high emotions and thrills and then its gone and you’re left standing there going wow with this stupid look on your face and just happily dumbfounded? It’s something like that after you see this movie.

I am TOTALLY looking for a FRYE 44 Jersey!! My son and I went to several games last season 122 B (right behind the blazer bench) and we had to MAKE our own FRYE Jerseys on RED shirts…. we wrote Channing a letter about it,.. sadly no response, but my son and I STILL have our eyes our for a FRYE 44 Jersey!! Let me know if you find one, most importantly one in a childs size (my 6 year old LOVES watching the blazers and Channing is his #1 FAV…. you would think it would be Roy, but NO it’s CHANNING!! ) anyways,.. Post when you find them and where!!!!

I also went to a 12:01 am showing to see Batman. It was truly an amazing movie. The action was incredible and there are no words to even describe Heath Ledger’s performance. Overall, the best movie of the summer, and one of the best I have seen.

36 pts and only 1 turnover
what’s more incredible is that he actually seemed to enjoy the interview
random thought:
what’s the point of a good view if you only see the ghetto cause all the good buildings are on your side of the river
shouldn’t they build like a good building in se so you see the skyline at night?

Have to agree Channing, Heath Ledger deserves to get nominated for best supporting actor; even if it would be posthumously.
Just saw it at the recently reburbished/re-opened Roseway theatre on NE Sandy (an 80ish year old movie house), completely great venue now, and almost half the price of the chain theaters (snacks are cheaper too).
I think I need to see it again just to get the full effect.
July 20th, 2008 - 18:58
I would have to totally agree on the Wall-E thing, it looks like it sucks. I mean does the thing even talk? I loved The Dark Night. Everyone did a great job. I gonna go and see it again. This is probably the best movie this summer. Batman and Hancock.

Great, great, great flick. Saw it at the IMAX, but had to sit second row. Even in the second row it was amazing. Gonna check it again this week in a seat where I can see the whole screen without turning my head.
Like you said CF, Heath Ledger was one of the best villains I’ve ever seen. A convincing performance. After a while you forget it’s even Ledger. And Nolan is a great director and story teller. It was more of a crime drama than comic book/super hero movie. Well worth the price of admission.
July 21st, 2008 - 17:30
That flick was freakin’ awesome. Ledger carried the film. One of the first movies in a long time I am considering watching in the theater again.
July 21st, 2008 - 22:56
Gonna have to agree with you Channing. Sick movie. Heath stole the show, no doubt. When he walked out of the hospital in the nurse outfit I was busting up. Also, was interesting seeing all of the Chicago locations used for filming. Totally worth the price of admission.
