Best and Worst
Ok, I am curious now that the season and playoffs are over, I'd like to hear from the readers: who is your favorite player? Doesn’t have to be an All Star. Could be whoever. And, who do you absolutely
despise? I'm curious to read your posts.

Hi Channing! That’s easy. The favs include:
Channing Frye, LaMarcus Aldridge, Greg Oden, Larry Bird, “Illini Prince” Dee Brown, Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley,
The not so favs include: Bruce Bowen, and any dirty, cheap shot players.
Keep on blogging, Channing. Go Blazers! Go Cubs!

i love crafty vets who can do it all… guys like Robert Horry and Ray Allen. James Jones certainly falls into this circle as well.
on the other end, i can’t stand selfish me-first shooters (which is why i loved watching Kobe miss soooooo many shots in game 6) or guys who just plod around and bump their way to buckets from down low (Z-Bo).
Thanks for keeping the conversation going, Channing.
Cheers,
shiv

hey Channing. I’m new to Portland and I really dig the blog. The pictures are a really cool, and I am curious to check out some of the things I’ve read about on this site. Anyway, here are some of my fav. players:
caron butler, lamar odom – i grew up in florida as a heat fan, and the shaq trade broke my heart. they are both great players and fun guys to root for. They bust their butts every night.
stephen jackson – i spent the last 3 years living in san francisco. s-jax has done more for the city of oakland than the mayor. its inspiring to see the way he turned his life around. plus he plays fierce d.
rajon rondo – he won me over in the playoffs. lots of assists, few turnovers, scores tough baskets when the team needs them. i think he’s as good as any of the big 3.
rasheed wallace – he just seems like he’d be cool to hang out with
sorry about the lack of t-blazers. i’m sure i will have a few by next season.
least favorite:
kobe – seems like the type of guy you wouldn’t want on your team during a pick-up game. just doesn’t seem like a good teammate.
ok, thats it for now.
peace

Present Day FAVORITE
Channing Frye – for obvious reasons
Aside from Channing:
Fav – KG, work ethic

Old School:
Fav – a Toss Up between:
Walt “Clyde” Frazier – Clyde was just TOO COOL
Bill Russell – Ultimate BBallPlayer
Least Fav – Phil Jackson – All he could do was foul.
Old Old School
Fav – Bob Cousy – Knew how to play
Least Fav – Ray Felix, not impressive
Uh-oh! Did I just date myself?
June 20th, 2008 - 11:51
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. If almost any other team had been as humiliated in game 6 the way the Lakers were, I would feel sorry for them.
Maybe it’s something about being from Portland, but to be honest I loved every second of that game. In my mind, no team deserves to be humiliated more than the Lakers.
Not that there aren’t Lakers that I love. Turiaf, Farmar and Walton all deserve to be on better teams.
But hands down, my two least favorite players on earth are Lamar Odum and Kobe Bryant.
I’ve been smiling all week!
Faves- You (our P-town adopted son), LaMarcus, Brandon, Joel, Greg and Travis (and the rest of the gang of course. Ray allen, Steve Smith, Magic, MJ, David Robinson, Hakeem… there’s lots to love about the NBA.
June 20th, 2008 - 12:11
Favorites include Travis Outlaw, Chris Paul, and Chris Bosh.
Least favorites are Kevin Garnett, Lamar Odom, or anyone who is talented, but ruins it with their obnoxious mouths. If I were a Laker or Celtic fan, I’d be embarrassed. Trash talk is one thing, but to their extent is just pathetic!
June 20th, 2008 - 12:35
All time Fav’s- Clyde the Glide (what a great guy), Charles Barkley- just love to listen to him- he is so funny some times
current Fav’s include BRoy, T-law, DWade,Chris Paul,Steve Nash, and of course the whole rest of the blazer team! ;-}
most annoying-Ricky Davis, Kevin Garnett
Have a great summer Channing- love reading your blog- it is always interesting and entertaining. Looking forward to a great season next year!
June 20th, 2008 - 13:09
Best: LA12

i want to see you take it to them next year.
diamond in the ruff. sucks:odom
June 20th, 2008 - 16:42
Hey Channing,
1 Modern Fav is a 4 way tie, so I will try and put in order from 1.1-1.4
1.1 T-Outlaw, if he works hard this summer, easy 6th man of the year if he doesnt start. So far he has taken it easy during the off season and came back slow.
1.2 You. I felt like the play we saw out of you was your game finally feeling comfortable and confident. And the swish you produce was unlike any other swish i have heard, very pure. I hope you stay in portland, like you said its a business, but we are building a dynasty, and as long as your alright with coming off the bench behind LA you are a pivotal part to that dynasty.
1.3 B-Roy. Nuff said.
1.4 Lamarcus Aldridge, another no brainer.
Good to have you in portland, good luck with your golf tournament. Im working on breaking 100! You should play east moreland if you get a chance, very beautiful and fun course.
June 20th, 2008 - 17:16
CHANNING, I was just reading about the Blazers on the web, and I read that you ONLY had a 1 season contract with the Blazers, that means your 1 season is up… I SURE hope they keep you,… I’m kinda sweatin’ bullets right now… YOU are the reason I started watching the Blazers again after the years of crappy platers (Racheed, Zach, Bonzi, and others) I hope you stay!!! I really don’t want to have to re-locate my family
Anyways, we LOVE you in Portland!!
June 20th, 2008 - 18:24
Favorite-Dennis Rodman. He could rebound like crazy. And, he could guard Shaq better than anyone.
Least Favorite- It’s a tie. Karl Malone and Greg Ostertag. Those guys flopped like premier league soccer players. God, Malone was Sh%t Bird. It’s only fitting to learn that he’s a chomo and a dead beat dad.
June 21st, 2008 - 00:01
Favorite: Tough one. I’d almost have to go with Greg Oden right now. The dude is working like a beast and he’s not even out there playing. Travis Outlaw is out there working hard in the offseason as well, and so is Martell, at least from what I hear. I’m sure Brandon is being Brandon, and LMA is getting help from Bobby Medina I guess? Anyway, I luuuuuv guys like that–guys out there working their butts off to get ready for the upcoming season.
I really like The Thrilla too. He turned down dough from the Spurs to come here….awesome. And Blake loves Portland, was so bummed when he left the first time, was hyped to come back. You just gotta’ love guys like that.
Yah, my least favorite would have to be LAMAR ODOM!!! That guy plays so dirty. Next time you’re on Youtube just type in Lamar Odom and you’ll see the video of him dropping Brandon, a video of him totally late-hitting Ray Allen and sending Ray Ray just flying. He’s ridiculous. Even the in the Finals, I noticed lots of little things. Lots of little “I’m a jerk” type things. Man that guy….arrrrg! If there is one guy I wish I could ban from the NBA, it’s him.
June 21st, 2008 - 00:45
I just came across this photo of YOU! I’m not sure how to post pictures, so I will just leave the link.. It is FUNNY!!! (Lookin’ good as always)

Lamar Odom is a complete and utter a-hole. Period.
June 21st, 2008 - 10:49
I like the combination of Cubs fans and Blazers fans… my two favorite teams.
Favorite NBA players: Brandon Roy, Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster, Monta Ellis, Chris Paul, and Allan Houston (even though hes retired…)
Least favorite: Kobe (obviously…), Tony Parker, and Janero Pargo (after game seven against the spurs)
June 21st, 2008 - 16:41
Favorite: Brandon Roy
Least: JJ Redick
June 22nd, 2008 - 19:37
Whats up man. Loving the site, loving all the things you have been doing in the City, and love to see positive things coming from our PDX pros. Its been a long time. Love it man. So to answer you question.
I love all our Blazers, But Roy, You, GO, my man Trout. Love the Blazer Mix. I don’t really hate on any NBA player. Or at least I don’t try to. I respect them for being in the league. But probably Bruce Bowen is someone I really don’t like, and Kobe, mainly Kobe because he just kills it.
But you need to get hooked up with GO over at the Yard.
http://www.yardbarker.com/users/KeeganJM
He is big over there. Once again man, good looking out for PDX and staying positive. You look like you love life, and thats always great to see.
June 22nd, 2008 - 21:25
Hey Channing,
First an answer to your question; I love all blazers first but one of my fav. players is Steve Nash. A pretty cool Canadian. Ginobli is a player I have issues with.
By the way, I just got back from ST. Martin in the Caribbean and saw a Channing Frye jersey (be with a Knicks one) on one of the locals. Just wanted to let you know.
June 23rd, 2008 - 18:44
Favs: Chris Paul*, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Tayshaun Prince, Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Devin Harris, Jordan Farmar, and I always thought you were cool.
Not so much: Kobe, Odom, floppy Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, Vladimir Radmanovic and Sasha Vujacic.
* By far my favorite player to watch.
June 23rd, 2008 - 19:30
Favs: Me
Least Fav: Aldridge and Brandon
We’ll kill you in the playoffs once we get Bynum
June 23rd, 2008 - 19:45

can’t stand- lakers..mainly kobe and sasha..melo…boozer..kg..most of the spurs
June 24th, 2008 - 18:42
Favorite: Steve Blake. I loved how he come to Portland in the 2005-2006 season and was able to start when Bassy went down and kept the starting spot. I was so pissed when he was traded for Maglorie.
Not so favorite:
Sebastian Telfair, we wasted a pick on him.
Shaq: I was 8 during the 2000 WCF and when he got that alley oop from Kobe and ran down the court with his hands in the air I instantly hated him for being so dominant.
Lebron James: He is just to good period.

Marcus Camby, dwight howard, Dennis Rodman,
Tayshaun the miller killer, Chauncy and Baron,
Arvydis Sabonis, boozer and deron
Steve smith and scottie (you were so close)
Clyde and Terry
Isaiah thomas and Kurt Rambis

June 24th, 2008 - 22:33
Favorite: Kobe Bryant, Gerald Wallace, & Brandon Roy
Despide: The Big 3, Dwayne Wade (Overrated), Michael Redd (Overrated), & Tim Duncan..along with Raja Bell of course.
June 24th, 2008 - 22:58
You’re overrated!
June 24th, 2008 - 22:59
Dwyane Wade is the best in da biz (besides me)!
June 25th, 2008 - 12:01
Ok, something startling happened in the Finals. I hate the Lakers, and thought I would root against them, but found myself rooting for them from game 1. The only team I hate worse now is the Celtics.
Dislike: (Finals) Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett(What was that ridiculous screaming incident after Game 6 about? LOL) Ray Allen (gum chewing is annoying) Perkins, Eddie House, Vasha Vuja and of course Kobe Bryant.
Like: (Finals) Rajon Rondo is the only guy I can actually say I like on either team.
The negatives for Boston just outweighed my deep dislike of Kobe by a nose.
NBA Favs: All of the Blazers
Other NBA dislikes: Tim Duncan, Robert Horry, Steve Nash, Dirk, Shaq, Z-BO, Starbury, could think of others but getting tired…BTW Nice blog.
June 25th, 2008 - 16:40
NBA Favorite – Steve Nash – that could be SCU homerism kicking in – go Broncos!
NBA Most Despised: Kobe Bryant – who else?
June 26th, 2008 - 16:52
Love the blog, Channing:
Favorites – Deron Williams, Tayshaun Prince
Least Favorite – Just one…Richard Jefferson. I saw him dunking in a celebrity/pro game during the All Star Weekend a few years back. Like that’s something to be proud of, there’s no need to dunk over Frankie Muniz, Dean Cain, or anyone like that. Hope the Bucks like dunks, because that’s all they got in that trade today!
June 27th, 2008 - 11:33
This is too easy.
Absolute favorite: Brandon Roy
Least favorite: Kobe Bryant
Other favorites: Channing Frye and the rest of the Blazers (truly! and in that order)
Of course, I am a Blazer and Portland homer, so take my post with a grain of salt.
June 27th, 2008 - 17:33
Favorites: Brandon Roy (great young leader), Tim Duncan (fundamental player, never does anything wrong), Kobe (greatest player alive, easily the most fun to watch), Tayshaun Prince (does it all and goes under the radar), The Big 3 (never a big fan until the finals, but they they are a great trio).
Least Favorites: Noah (gets in trouble and isn’t any good), Gasol (so big put he plays so soft), Laettner (Once stomped on the chest of a UK player in the NCAA tourney)
June 28th, 2008 - 23:30
some more faves…
of all time..The Glide…TP, Buck, Mercy, Duck, Uncle Cliffy. Pack…
Current- Ime, Bassy,Jarrett..damn near all Blazers
June 29th, 2008 - 14:28
I root for anyone from the Pac10 so you’re on there U of Arizona & anyone Northwest hoops Blazers Sonics so you’re definitely on there again. I root against dirty players or way too selfish & still lose many games for being too selfish.
June 29th, 2008 - 17:07
Easy! Brandon Roy and Channing Frye! are my favorite players… and basically the whole Blazers roster.
Despise! Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol!! basically the whole Lakers roster.
June 29th, 2008 - 21:25
I’m a huge college basketball fan (Go Jayhawks!) that has just recently gotten into watching the NBA.
Some of my faves:
Chris Paul – not only great on the court, but seemingly off the court as well
Paul Pierce – former Jayhawk, current champion – the game where he broke for 41 points was outstanding
Dwight Howard – he got me at the Dunk contest
Team vote – Trailblazers, Celtics. Love the turnaround for both teams
Other Likes:
Rajon Rondo – hated him because I grew up anti-Kentucky, but he really stepped it up during the finals
Nate Robinson – I’m small, so I’m a fan of undersized players
Gilbert Arenas – funniest NBA blog, although I think the funny part might be accidental
Kobe – his personality as a teammate is questionable, but he’s got great skill. As a fan of the sport itself, I have to appreciate that part.
Least Favorite:
Kwame Brown – didn’t he have lots of talent? What happened?
June 29th, 2008 - 22:19
As far as my favorite players in todays league, I’m going with Sam Cassell, DeShawn Stevenson, P.J. Brown, and Andre Iguodala. I don’t really hate many guys in the league now, unless it’s triggered by Kobe or LeBron being compared to MJ, then mad hate comes out for them.
Now, my favorite players of the golden years of the NBA have to be Shawn Kemp (of course), Mitch Richmond, Pooh Richardson, Jason Caffey, Bimbo Coles, CHARLES OAKLEY, and the list never ends… The one man that I will never dish out any respect for is Greg Ostertag. Seriously, does a true Ostertag fan exist?
June 30th, 2008 - 21:29
FAV
#1) Lighting Rod Strickland!
Great ball handler, passer, scorer (Sometimes he was to unselfish). Underrated leader. Just to many run-ins. Could a been a perennial all star and in the HOF conversation but he just had top many distractions.
Least FAV
#1)Any current or Laker Alum.
July 1st, 2008 - 14:10
Favorite: Any University of Arizona basketball players! But from that, Richard Jefferson/Channing Frye/Salem/Zero/Bayless
Despise: All 2 ASU players in the NBA!
And most of the Spurs
July 7th, 2008 - 19:27
OKK. MY FAVORITES ARE OBVIOUSLY “ARE BRANDON ROY, GREG ODEN, LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE, TRAVIS OUTLAW, MARTELL WEBSTER, CHANNING FRYE. EST………..
BUT OTHER THAN THAT I LIKE CHRIS PAUL, STEVE NASH, AND LEBRON JAMES
I DESPISE: KOBE BRYENT, YAO MING, KEVIN GARNETT, JARRETT JACK, CARMELLO ANTHONY
July 7th, 2008 - 19:49
Sorry…This is off-topic because I don’t have much time but….
Can you get some of the other guys to put up active blogs also!? You don’t have to push the issue so BRoy will be like “Oh man, here comes Would-you-like-Fryes-with-that trying to annoy me about a blog that Nate wanted us to make”
This one is really cool cuz it allows you to (somewhat) closely converse w/ an NBA player.
Anyway, We really appreciate everything you’ve done for our team and I’m stoked that you like Portland so much.
Later

Present; Brandon Roy (professionalism and composure/unmeasurable talent), Steve Nash (never quit/gives 2000%), Chris Paul (his court vision and athletic ability)
