MVP Congrats

Who do you think should have won MVP?

I know that my season is over and this year we had a lot of great candidates, but I have to agree with it being Kobe Bryant for this reason: When you're on the bench or you're in the game and the 4th quarter comes around, there is one person that everybody says, ok, now we have to really turn up our D because he's gonna take it to another level.

It's weird how playing against the best brings the best outta our team, but the last game we played the Lakers we were up by, I think, 16, and we knew that HE was gonna go nuts. We didn’t know how long or what is was gonna be like. We knew that we had to come together as a team to make him take tougher than normal shots and to limit his touches.

I just can't remember throughout the year anyone else that we made such an effort for. Now, that is in no way any disrespect to anyone else. It's just the truth. I know any other NBA team who's played the Lakers this year would tell you the same thing. He's earned the respect and I think it's great he was recognized.

  1. kobe?
    paul?
    lebron?

i think it was a toss-up, but Kobe got the Lakers number one in the League. That should count for something.

Speaking of Lebron one might think of Jay-Z. Have you heard the remix of Jay-Z’s album with Marvin Gaye samples? Ridiculous:

    Enjoy pdx.

  2. “number one in the west…”

  3. Cuz,

I agree with you 100%, Kobe is most deserving of the award. I’m just surprised by the margin of his win. I would have thought Chris Paul would have “narrowed the gap” in the voting.

    Peace Cuz

  4. Kobe deserved it. He made everyone else play better. He put out
100 % every game. Plus, he played at an unbelievable level. Very deserving, I agree.

Thanks for blogging, Channing. Have a fun and relaxing summer! Hope that your bull dog is feeling better.

  5. Hey Channing,

I’d like to think I’m big enough to set aside my dislike for anything Laker, but I just can’t this time.

Chris Paul deserved it this year, in my opinion, by leading his very young team to the second best record in the West and a great showing in the playoffs so far. I think what he has done this year is much more impressive than what Kobe has done and he did it with a lot less help.

Hope you are enjoying the summer and getting some rest.

  6. Luck the Fakers. Beat LA!

  7. B-Roy should’ve won. :)

  8. Hey Channing,
I love ya but I can’t agree with this one. Everyone keeps saying that he deserves it because he was the best player on the team IN THE WEST. Um, since when are awards only giving to the west? this is news to me. If it’s going to be argued that way then why doesn’t KG deserve it, he was the best player on the best team IN THE LEAGUE. And to argue that they played in the east is not fair to him, I think their record against the west speaks for itself.
How quickly everyone forgets that less than a year ago #24 was demanding to be traded and calling out his teammates. Now all of a sudden he’s this great team player. C’mon he has never been and will never be a good team player, his ego won’t allow it. He just has better players around him which makes everything and everyone look better. But of course he gets all the credit for being a team player. It’s laughable! He’s a great player no question, but man, I don’t know about this one.
But I have to agree with Dan, Chris Paul deserved it. What he has done with that team, nobody picked NO to be at the top at the start of the season and nobody can argue that they wouldn’t be where they are without him. They probably wouldn’t have even made they playoffs. He had an unbelievable year, he lead an amazing team and lead the way (along with our own BRoy) in the all-star game, it’s too bad he wasn’t honored for everything he did THIS year. But what are you gonna do, the NBA is a business. It’s unfortunate.

  9. I would have voted for CP3. Kid is amazing. Kobe would have been my number 2. It was only this summer KB threw Bynum under the bus. The worst thing is LBJ only got ONE first place vote. ONE.

I’m hoping for a NO vs Lakers Western Conf. Finals so CP3 can go at Fisher and show why he deserved MVP.

  10. I just threw up in my mouth

Seriously in all seriousness… (yep i did just write that) i wouldnt reveal this grudging respect you have for KBr*ant- if you havent noticed , Blazer fans HATE L*ker anything and no matter how rational the statement or opinion regarding the L*kers or a player may be, we’ll still hate it.

Happy Birthday…no suggestions on where to celebrate but try something on the East side of town (NE SE Clack…) get outa the hills/pearl.

  11. I’d have to go with KG for the regular season…KB24 is the MVP of the playoffs so far though.

  12. There is no doubt Kobe deserved MVP, and he has for a while now. I’m happy for him.
