My ride

Hey! I finally got my 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible and I wanted to know if there was like a day or night when a bunch of other old schools gather.

Someone named Manny sent this one of me (thanks for sending, Manny) and here's another:

I want to see some classics and see how my RIzzziiidddeee compares, and no, I don’t think I'm gonna change the tires or very much on it other than a tint and maybe a re-black paint job. So if you know let me know or if you have a picture of your old school I want to see. I think the other readers would want to see too.

  1. In a word, WOW! It’s a classic. Enjoy!

  2. Sweet ride! Hope to see you at the three-on-three tournament tonight. Glad to see you and James involved with this campaign! Go Blazers! Go Obama!

  3. Channing, you’re boy (and my favorite non-Blazer) Iggy is having a hard time against the Sixers in this series. With his big contract coming up I think it’s showing that he’s not so much of a 1 on 1 player but more of a complimentary player who’s an awesome defender, great transition player, and scrappy in the half-court, exactly what we need here in Portland. What are you gonna do to get him here?

Just kidding for the most part…but seriously.

  4. That is a slick ride.

  5. That’s a hot ride bro.

  6. do you have enough leg room in there? I’ve got a ‘62 and my head touches the ceiling of the car. I’m only 6′3″. How do you fit? did you take the back seat out or something?

  7. Awesome car…..you’re right, it doesn’t need any modifications other then another coat of black paint.

  8. Channing,

Please don’t make a clown car out of that piece of art of yours like Darius did with his silly, silly car…

  9. Doesn’t get much cooler than that. One of my favorite shows, Entourage, has almost that exact car in the intro. Nice to hear you are going to keep it pretty stock.

  10. Sick car Channing.
My wife and I saw you on a Nob Hill breakfast joint this past weekend. Was the girl with dark brown hair your girlfriend? It is nice to see you found a good girl in Portland, we think she is beautiful, and we wish you guys the best of luck.
Can’t wait to see more of your game next season.

  11. That thing is sweet Channing.

Clean it up, keep it classy though. Don’t ruin it with 24in rims or Gucci interior.

  12. Hey, cool car, my dad built a 65 Chevelle SS instead of a 327 motor we put a 454 in it, and a 66 Impala SS cherry red convertible. There is a place called Lew’s cruise in on McLoughlin Blvd. in Milwaukie they have an annual classic, hot rod car show down there, not sure when it is exactly but I know it’s coming up soon with summer approaching, it’s a pretty big event, nice to get the car out there, show it off and see what other people have.

  13. daaaam !! can I get a ride to the coast??

  14. I’ve seen a gathering of classic cars at the Burgerville on Powell Blvd and I-205, not the one by Powell and 28th. I’ve seen a nice collection of classic cars in the parking lot every Friday night. There were cars ranging from Ford roadsters, Mustangs, and mid 50’s customs. I’ve seen a few 427 AC Cobras there too. You should check it out. I’m not sure who organizes it, might be just an informal spot.

  15. Nice ride Perry Mason. Seriously, best Classic American Convertable ever made. There is a guy that is the Classic Car Gurun in the States. He has a show on the Discouvery Channel and is from Portland. He use to sell Ferraris for Ron Tonkin and started a collectable car magazine with recent sales, etc… Anyways, his name is Keith Martin and he is the man. I am sure you can get an audience with him, and maybe your car on his show.

  16. Nice ride Mr. Frye. That thing’s a hybrid, right?

Just kidding. At least it’s more interesting than an Escalade.

  17. Sweet ride, Channing.

There’s some guys out here in Colorado who are converting larger vehicles over to fuel-efficient engines. You should look into that.

I’ll send you a picture of my truck, a ‘71 Chevy. Not in nearly as nice a condition as yours, but someday I hope it will be …

  18. oh that’s pretty. hang in there for a minute, till summer when you can rock it with the top off. Filling up two full lanes in the Pearl.

Thanks so much for embracing Portland – I get so homesick out here and you’re making it worse.

NBA’s a business and you may not be in PDX forever, but you’ll always have me for a fan now, wherever you go, and you are always welcome in the city

  19. Sweeet!!! Don’t know about a place where other car owners gather, but you should hop over to the east side and check out this place sometime, I think you’d like it a lot:

I always slow down when I drive by there so I can check out the rides they’ve got parked out front…

  20. Nice car. I used to have a 69 with suicide doors. I currently have a 67 Malibu, but it seems I tinker with it more than drive it. Every Friday evening around 6 a bunch of old school drivers gather at the Dairy Queen parking lot on Farmington and 170th in Aloha. Chevelles, Mustangs, old Ford coupes, even the occasional Mopar. Hope to see you and your 65 there.

  21. There’s a car show in Forest Grove, Oregon every year. It’s called “Concour’s D’elegance”. It’s a yearly show and I use to attend as a kid and it was pretty sweet.

Forest Grove is about 20 miles west of Portland on Highway 26…..

    Here is the website:

  22. hey channing this trent nice car. rember me i talked to you on the phone.

  23. Hey Channing, there is a huuuuuuggggee car show that features many classics down in Southern Oregon (Medford) called “Hot August Nights”, it might be something that you would want to check out. I can’t wait for y’all next season, it’s been hard because I’ve moved from Bend, OR to Naples, FL and I don’t get to watch your games all the time anymore. It’s all right though cause the love stays strong!! Good luck on next year!!

  24. Saw you on Front yesterday afternoon, top-down … ride’s looking great. Nice to see people embracing the old-school ride and getting away from the lame SUVs.
