Basketball Season
Well, I know a lot of people want to ask me why some games I play, some I don’t, etc., etc. Well, to be frank: it's life. I mean, even though the game is extremely simple in nature, the NBA is infinitely complex.
So, I could throw out a million scenarios about what's going on with me or the team or whatever. But it comes down to this: I'm 24 years old, this is my 3rd year in the NBA. I'm finally embracing the type of game that I'm going to need to have, and the type of work ethic that I'm going to need to have, to not only survive, but to thrive, in this league.
It’s a business, and sometimes you need a harsh reminder of the seriousness of that. For me to play more, is for me to continue to be a consistent worker. Not only in the weight room and practice court, but in the games. Also, for me to understand my role on this team and to find a way to help not only myself, but the team, to be a good as we can be. The complicated part is that it changes at times and I'm getting used to that.
I love the game of basketball. It is not only who I am, but it is what I was put on this earth to do. Through basketball, I can do so may other things, but until that time that I'm done, there is nothing that I think about more…(other than God) than the game. So I just have to keep being aggressive, continue molding my game, and stay faithful that I will be given an opportunity to stay a part of this team for a long time, so that I may grow up both on and off the court with a class-act team and be a part of one of the greatest assembled teams in the history of the NBA in the future.

We’re hope you’re back in Portland next year, Channing. All the best to you.
April 9th, 2008 - 17:34
We hope you stay part of Blazers for MANY years! You have such a great attitude, and I look forward to watching you play each game! My husband talked to you a few times in your building when he was doing construction on another floor.. he said you seemed like a real nice guy! He also said he has a BIT (a coffee) that you guys will end the season 500 or better… please help him out!

Congrats on a great win and a great game against the fakers last night!!!
April 9th, 2008 - 20:26
Great game last night, Channing! Against the Lakers, too! Way to step it up!
April 9th, 2008 - 22:45
Channing,
That last sentence made me smile. You have such a wonderful personality and a great attitude. You are a great representative for this wonderful team. I also love hearing you say that you want to be with this team in the future, we hope you are too.
Great job last night! I enjoyed seeing you and the rest of the guys running to BRoys defense after he was knocked to the floor. Keep it up!
April 10th, 2008 - 00:32
Great job Channing. I’m a big fan of what you bring to the Blazer organization. We’re fans that demand a lot from players, but are ‘6th man experts’ late in the game.
I said hi to you and Josh at Henry’s a month or two ago and was ignored. I was a little hurt, but understand how it must happen a lot. Just know that if you weren’t so cool of a character, I’d have something against you!
PS: How is the three point shot coming? I heard in NY you hit a number of them.
April 10th, 2008 - 00:56
Love to hear things like this from ‘my guys’. I am always weary when players say they love Portland and their teammates, but I have hard time not believing you. I know it is wierd but I appreciate it when a player stays in Portland during the off season. I think it shows me that they want to be HERE and not just in the nba. So thank you.
The only major negative I see with this team is I would love to see just about every player on this team as we make our push to a championship (or 2 or 3), but I know it won’t work out that way (darn it). Nonetheless, the group of guys this year will be a blazer team that will be remembered for a long time in Portland as it was the beginning of…
Enjoy the rest of the season and next year can’t come soon enough, the off season is just too long!
April 10th, 2008 - 08:34
I dont think your going anywhere. Plus your growing on me! You seem to have gotten a lot tougher down low as the season has gone on. Portland needs to clear at least 1 roster spot though prolly 2. Im pretty sure jack is gone and prolly reaf. Like you said it is a business, but I do know how much KP (kevin pritchard) likes you because you are a class act. Good luck and I really hope to see you back as a piece to the blazers puzzle for many years to come.

As I was watching your performance lighting it up in the first half against the Lakers, all I could think of on each great play was, Buffet of Goodness. When you first said that when you came into town I thought it was corny. But it’s money, right on. Makes me smile verytime you make a great play.
With everything you have done on and off the floor this year, just being the genuine you, you have won us over.
Well done Channing. Welcome to Portland.
I think this year’s team will forever be remembered as the Rebirth of the Blazers.
Congrats to KP for recognizing you and bringing you to Portland.
Cheers!

It was a joy to watch you and all the other guys this season. Keep working hard and everything will fall into place.
I also enjoy reading this blog. I hope you keep doing it. It’s refreshing to see that you are indeed more than just a great basketball player, Channing.
Hope to one day see you around town, until then take care.

This is the First year I have had season tickets, and I will admit that GO was a big reason for pulling the trigger, but even without GO being healthy you guys have made having tickets well worth it.
From the top of 323 we hope you stick around for many (hopefully championship filled) years.
April 10th, 2008 - 12:14
When I go to the game on Saturday, I’m going to start a chant!!
CFRYE. CFRYE. CFRYE. Just doesn’t get any better! Chant CFRYE….
make signs….CFRYE..
April 10th, 2008 - 17:33
Channing, Relax and know that we are so glad to have you in a Blazer uniform. God willing you are going to be around here long time. Your enthusiasm and talent for the game and light hearted approach to life are greatly appreciated. Thanks for hanging in there and know that we are behind you 100 percent. Go Blazers! Go Cubs!
April 11th, 2008 - 08:30
Love your attitude, and I think Portland is a class act all the way! You all remind me of how much the Blazers were loved with Clyde the Glide and Jerome, all them.
I just bought my very first set of season tickets and plan to be cheering you on all of the 08/09 season! I cant wait, you guys are so much fun to watch!
Good luck..and tell the team I say hi
April 11th, 2008 - 16:59
Channing, you are so great to have not only as a Blazer but also as a Portlander!
I saw the article in Edible Portland Magazine, it was great. It means a lot to me that you care about this city and community, about kids and people in need, about the environment and how much you’ve embraced this town. Of course love having you contribute on the court too!
Loved your game against the Lakers.
Oh and our nickname for you is FRYELOCK- like the character on Aqua Teen Hunger Force! Maybe I’ll make a sign w/that next season.
Stay real and go Blazers!
April 12th, 2008 - 22:00
Hey Channing, great past few games! 3rd triple-double in a row tonight against the Mavs! Keep it up, man.
Your attitude both on and off the court is definitely refreshing for the franchise. Here’s to hoping you remain a Blazer for many seasons to come!
April 13th, 2008 - 00:04
Three consecutive dubba-dubs!!! Frye is a beast!
April 13th, 2008 - 12:37
Haha, I meant double-double lol
April 14th, 2008 - 18:06
well, well, finally your in the game getting some time on the floor! what were they thinking…man???? your the one all over the court, making things happen. the most exciting blazer games where when you were playing without any question- you change the pace and get the team thinking about options on the floor!! great job..i love watching you play..never questioned your game, you just needed the time on the floor to show that Frye still has big time game!! I guess you were doing more than just sitting on the bench this season, good for you man, good for you!
April 14th, 2008 - 22:16
Hey Channing, nice to meet you today (April 14th) @ officemax in the pearl. Quite a shock when you walked in the door because I just got done talking about your guyses game against Dallas and Lakers and how you’ve been getting double doubles since.
Sorry I didn’t get the chance to talk really, had to get back to work but it was awesome to meet you. You’ll be back here next year, I know it.
Good luck with your final two games
April 15th, 2008 - 21:42
Channing, I am SUCH a big fan. I was a fan of yours at UA and I’m a fan here in Portland. I hope you stay for a long long time. I think you really bring a lot to the court and to the team, and you seem like a really genuinely nice, intelligent guy. Loved your post game interview tonight. To sum up: keep Portland weird, and keep Channing here!
PS: Arizona is the coolest college in the history of colleges and have the coolest alumni.
April 16th, 2008 - 13:51
