Reality TV

What's up with reality TV taking over? I have to say, I am a fan of Rock of Love, Flavor of Love, Me Amore, Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, Making the Band 4, and finally, The Road Rules Real World Challenge.

But seriously folks, I think we all can remember the time when the 1st Real World came out and everone watched every week. The guy I remember over everyone was Puck only because his name was Puck. I mean, those days it was serious people with serious problems. Nowadays its like, okay, how can we throw 6 of the craziest drama
queens in the house to get the best ratings.

It just seems so set up. They get free booze all day; they really don’t have serious jobs. I don’t know. I really just appreciate real drama. Now reality TV is just like watching something made up because it's so set up. But even though I'm complaining about it, I'm still gonna watch it every week to see the lengths that people will go to win or at least get their own show.

  1. Did you know that Shannon (the redish-blonde girl from making the band) is from Portland and was a blazer dancer before she made it into danity kane? I too like that show but it is a total set-up to market their albums… that I would never buy just because they are part of the show… but don’t get me wrong I love the show.

  2. “They get free booze all day; they really don’t have serious jobs.”

    Sign me up!

  3. Channing: You ever seen Black. White. ? You want real drama with real people-I think that’s a pretty good start..I don’t know if they’re still doing it but they basically tried to tackle the racial divide between blacks & whites by making a family of each race live “in the flesh” of one another. I like **** like that where its actually semi-productive rather than this BS survivor, flava flave junk.

  4. You should try Big Brother! I have a full time job, I go to school full time, I’m a mom & a wife.. and I STILL manage to Tvoe it, and watch it every night that it is on!!! It is that GOOD! :)

  5. Reality TV shows cost nothing to make, other than renting a mansion and getting booze. Real TV shows cost 50X more. So, networks love reality shows

  6. Real World New York was the first Real World. Puck was in Real World San Fransisco.

Real World New York gave us Eric Nies, whose father is NBA official Jack Nies. I don’t know if Nies still refs games, but if he does, you should bring up Real World.

Little People, Big World is the reality television show you should be watching. It’s like Flavor of Love, but with little people and pumpkins.

  7. Dude, I never watched Flavor of Love..but I did see ‘I Love New York’…that was funny and over the top crazy. New York was hot in a ‘I’d never let my mom meet this chick” way.

Real World used to be cool, but it’s too ‘teeny bopper-ish’ for me.

The reason you’re seeing all these reality shows on now is because of the Hollywood Writer’s strike..there’s reality TV or reruns to choose from. I’m a dork so I like Mythbusters, The Deadliest Catch and stuff like that. The Amazing Race is good too (that, by the way, should be added to the blog “Stuff White People Like”..ha)

Take care man, and good play lately…sucks about BRoy’s injury. Nobody enjoys a groin injury.

    Joe

  8. Have you seen Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood?

My roommate and I seriously love it. I can’t quite explain why… but I highly recommend it!

  9. someone needs to get a camera on you! ;)

  10. Since we are on the topic of “Reality” I have a REAL question for you! So, I hear the Seattle Sonic’s are moving to Oklahoma. Paul Allen lives in Seattle, what do you think the chances are of Paul moving the Blazers to Seattle? I’m very fearful of this, I have been a HUGE fan of the Blazers since I was a toddler… this would devastate me, and many other Oregonians! I know this is off the topic, but this is REAL concerns for Portland, and I would just like to hear your point of view!

  11. the blazers will never move to seattle. the building (rose garden) has a lease till 2025 so relax that would never happen, especially since we will win at least 5 titles in the next 10 years. Frye meet me at voodoo donuts.

  12. Wow, I didn’t know you were one of the players ejected for the brawl. Was it because you were involved in the fighting, or did they just toss all of the players on the court?

  13. I heard the Rose Garden lease is up 2012! I don’t know, we need to prepair for the worst, and hope for the best!

  14. Hey Channing,

You must’ve watched the last presidential debate – talk about Reality TV.

You still haven’t hit me up for some Steelheading… summer is here.

Kudos to a dynamite finish (both personally and team-wise)
