Y'all had some great suggestions.

Well, I figure that everyone is probably curious to know what I did for my lovely girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Well, let me tell you.

Since I was on the road, I really didn’t get good time to spend with her, so I called around to Mama Frye who currently wasn’t busy and I asked her to find me some of the greatest flowers on the earth. Let me tell you, she did a great job. She got the flowers sent to my woman's work and everything, of course, I approved and put my own little touch in there.

What happened was that they were these flowers the size of goose eggs -- 12 of them -- so what I did in agreement with the flower shop was add 1 red rose. Yes, yes, yes -- I know, I know -- it's very corny but it worked. She was so happy. So this is all happening 3 days before Vday.

After that I had some flowers sent to the house so that when she got home she would have something to look at because the other flowers were way too big.

Finally the big Vday came and again some more flowers were at her desk and a special surprise after our lunch at Andina. Which is a great place, by the way, to eat. It's downtown by the Pearl District.

I had a telegram place send a guy dressed up as a heart go to her work with ballons and he called all her coworkers around and completely embarrassed her by reading a poem of love and other mushy stuff. She was so embarrassed but happy at the same time, so basically that’s what I did on Valentine's Day.

V-Day is more fun now that I am married.... Mostly becuase I have someone to be my Valentine. Not that I am lame or something, it just happened to be the one time of year I was always single. I know that still sounds lame, but whatever.

In any case... Always get flowers and a card... Regardless of the kind of flowers or if you buy/make a card, you have to get both or you will never live it down. I don't give sweet treats because we get those for Christmas and after the first of the year she is back on her diet and exercise regime. Don't want to spoil that! Cook a really nice dinner at home. Baked salmon, rice pliaf and light greens over candlelight always works.

Hey Channing. Valentines Day is a tough one but one year, I took my gf on a ghetto picnic on waterfront park. I got some friends to help, where they set up the picnic moments before we got there.

I pretended I didn't have any plans. I somehow surprised her with the set up with the whole cloth to sit on and everything, wine and cheese, but I also got her favorite food, Popeyes.

Nothing beats a romantic Valentines Day with some Popeyes.
