What’s up with steroids?

I’ve been watching TV and looking at the Internet of different stories about steroids not only in sports but in the music industry. I’m confused. Why do musicians, athletes, or anyone else - want to be super human huge? Did one day they look at the TV and say to themselves: I like that look:

He Man
The whole “I can’t move my arms, I’m so big” look. Maybe the ‘roids help them with their music or their sport. Maybe that’s it. I could be confused -- they might think that being that huge could get them girls. Guys: you’re rich ‘n famous already.

They wanted you any way you were.

I don’t know what’s up with society and for the baseball players and everybody about Barry Bonds. C’mon guys, just leave the man alone. We’re starting to learn that the pitchers and everyone else were doing it so basically all his achievements were legit because he was hitting the pitches by a pitcher on ‘roids. They should just give that whole case up. MLB is losing fans and bringing a lot of bad publicity to the sport. Those guys work hard. Penalize the guys that got caught or do a silent private investigation, but let’s keep the scandals and books and TV shows and all that other stuff to a minimum. Let’s hear about stories other than what happened in the mid 80s.

  1. Hey C.,
Just curious…What would be your reaction to find out that someone who torches you every time you play them, is on ‘roids?

  2. No way that ‘roided up mussle-man picture you posted is real… Is it?

  3. I was just going to ask that same question. Is that a real picture!!?

Love your blog, very refreshing to read an athlete blog about movies and just general stuff thats happening. I´m a Blazer fan from Iceland (there are a few hundred of us) who is enjoying every minute of the current season but also cannot wait until I see Oden lineup beside you guys. Quick question if I may :) Do you think Oden could join the team in the playoffs this year? I wouldn´t want to risk our future center in any way but BOY would it be exciting to have some playoff games this year and double exciting to see Oden join the team for that.

I was happy to see you get traded to the Blazers by the way, you have great potential, smart basketball mind and heart and I hope you can reach your potential in basketball with the Blazers until the end. Another question (that you can reply to with a blog) is how do you prepare for games? Do you watch a lot of video of the opponents, have some routine you follow in preparation etc.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. BoShow

  4. You forgot about Wyclef…and he isnt that big, maybe he needs to get on a different ‘roid.

  5. Whoa, Wyclef was on ‘roids? I mean, I can see 50 cent, with the “In ‘da Club” video and all, but Wyclef? “How many mics do we rip on the daily” Wyclef? I don’t believe it.

Interesting take on Bonds hitting off of juiced pitchers though; you make a good point. Maybe he does deserve some slack about using performance enhancing drugs, but he certainly doesn’t win much love with his attitude towards fans – and that’s what will win or lose your case in the court of public opinion. He may have been cheating just like everyone else, but if I’m going to have to pick a cheater to root for, it’s going to be the nice one.

So no empathy for Bonds. He’s always loved to play the villan. He brought this on himself.

  6. dang, that roid guys nasty… oh, and i agree about Barry Bonds. Considering how widespread the steroids problem is, i dont see how they can keep him out of the hall of fame. Were in the minority, though.

Hey, good game the other day against Denver. I was lucky enough to go to the game. Stupid Allen Iverson and his clutch shot, though. Good luck tomorrow against Detroit.

oh, and i wish i had a girlfriend who played videogames… well, actually, i just wish i had a girlfriend.

  7. As a woman….there’s nothing more attractive than a man’s natural body. Bottom line. For those that work a little harder than most because sports are their profession, they should look better than the regular guy walking down the street, but the regular guy walking down the street that eats right, goes to the gym to keep himself somewhat trim….well that’s what’s attractive.

The saying they are “compensating for something they don’t have”….I think there’s a lot of credence there.
